1 Hear, O hear the joyful bells a-ringing!
They tell us that this celebrates the day when Christ was born;
When He came His great salvation bringing,
Yet but a babe in Bethlehem that happy natal morn.

Refrain:
Hear, O hear! He's coming back again!
Ring it out o'er valley hill and plain!
Spread the news: He's coming back again!
O hallelujah! Praise His name!

2 Peal, ye bells of glorious revelations,
Sound out the tidings full and clear o'er wooded land and main;
Rouse, O rouse the slumb'ring, sinful nations,
Awake them to the happy hope that Christ shall come again. [Refrain]

3 Hear, O hear the Christmas bells a-ringing;
O shall the echo call the mem'ry back to Calvary?
Shall they find us songs of glory singing,
Or rolling in the muddy tide of self-debauchery? [Refrain]

4 Hear, O hear the echo of the morning:
"Behold He comes,"the angels shout; ye faithful join the cry;
Christ the Lord, God's glory Him adorning,

Charles Price Jones born December 9, 1865, near Rome, Georgia. He grew up in Kingston, Georgia, and attended the Baptist church. He was converted in 1884 while living in Cat Island, Arkansas. In 1885 he was called to the ministry and began preaching. In 1888 he attended Arkansas Baptist College and taught school in Grant County, Arkansas. He preached and pastored several Baptist churches. After asking God for a deeper experience of grace and fasting and praying for three days, Jones experienced a closeness with God, and in 1895, along with other Baptist holiness adherents, who taught that a second work of grace can cleanse the Christian of original sin.
