A Mensagem de Deus

Representative Text

1. A mensagem vem de Deus:
Que Jesus é o Salvador!
Ó, clamai, vós, filhos Seus:
“É Jesus o Salvador!”
Proclamai com grande ardor
Que Deus ama o pecador,
Que Seu Filho ao mundo deu
Para ser o Salvador!
Ó, vós, povos, eis o dom:
É Jesus o Salvador!

2. Por Seu sangue, dá perdão;
É Jesus o Salvador!
Filhos, todos, exultai,
Seu amor considerai;
E vós, anjos, proclamai
Que Jesus é o Salvador!

3. Ó, vós, santos, já bradai:
“É Jesus o Salvador!”
Vós, nações, ó, jubilai!
É Jesus o Salvador!
Salvação de graça dá,
Hoje, a todo pecador.
Glória, glória a Deus Jeová,
Pois Jesus é o Salvador!

In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries. Go to person page >

Author: Priscilla J. Owens

Owens, Priscilla Jane, was born July 21, 1829, of Scotch and Welsh descent, and is now (1906) resident at Baltimore, where she is engaged in public-school work. For 50 years Miss Owen has interested herself in Sunday-school work, and most of her hymns were written for children's services. Her hymn in the Scotch Church Hymnary, 1898, "We have heard a joyful sound" (Missions), was written for a Sunday-school Mission Anniversary, and the words were adapted to the chorus "Vive le Roi" in the opera The Huguenots.
