1 Come listen unto me,
A story I will tell,
How Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
Came in my heart to dwell;
And by His mighty pow’r,
Has changed my night to day,
And now my life is filled with joy,
Since Jesus came to stay.

Refrain:
O bless that happy day,
When Jesus came to stay.
Although my sins were crimson red,
He washed them all away;
And since His pow’r and mighty
Has changed my night to day,
My soul is filled with joy and light,
Since Jesus came to stay.

2 Before my Savior came,
I often was cast down,
The least thing made my temper flame,
And trifles made me frown;
But now my heart is clean,
And sin’s all washed away;
So now with joy I sing and shout,
Since Jesus came to stay. [Refrain]

3 Since Jesus came to stay,
My feet have ceased to slip,
I sail no more a sinking wreck,
But on the gospel ship;
She’s rigged in splendid style,
In true salvation way,
And all on board are singing now,
Since Jesus came to stay. [Refrain]

4 I know that I have found
The Lord so good and kind,
And none need feed on husks of sin,
If sin is left behind;
For since I’ve found this light
So precious day by day,
I shout and sing with all my might,
Since Jesus came to stay. [Refrain]

5 And by and by we’ll meet
On that celestial shore,
And walk with joy the golden street,
And shout for evermore;
And then again we’ll raise
This happy joyous lay,
In everlasting songs of praise,
Since Jesus came to stay. [Refrain]
