Egy Név Áll Messze Magasan

Representative Text

1 Egy Név áll messze magasan
Minden más név felett!
Így vallom, Jézus, boldogan:
Az Élet jött Veled!
Az Élet jött Veled!

2 E névre: Jézus, térdre hull,
Hódol majd minden lény!
Ő szól, s mi sötét, menekül!
Elűzi azt a fény,
Elűzi azt a fény!

3 E Névnél jobb és drágább nincs!
Ez törli mind, mi szenny!
Ó, Isten-küldte drága kincs,
Benned miénk a menny!
Benned miénk a menny!

4 E Névre hull le bűnbilincs,
A Sátán meghátrál!
Jézusban kárhozat már nincs!
A halott talpra áll!
A halott talpra áll!

5 Kegyelme oly dicsőn megáld,
Hol rút ínség honolt!
Ó, ember, hidd el, rég vár rád,
Ki engem átkarolt!
Ki engem átkarolt!

6 Ó, hadd hirdessem igédet:
Csak hit kell!—semmi más!
Megváltás nincsen kívüled!
Sem megigazulás!
Sem megigazulás!

7 Ezt vallom, hol még bűn honol:
Megment a kegyelem!
Szálljon bár szembe föld, pokol,
Én bátran hirdetem!
Én bátran hirdetem!

8 Ha majd a végső percem jő,
Szám Neved suttogja!
Így szóljon ajkam búcsúszava:
Ím: Isten Báránya!
Ím, Isten Báránya!

In 1726 Charles Wesley was elected to a Westminster studentship at Christ Church, Oxford, where he took his degree in 1729, and became a college tutor.
