But, before you hit the "close" button on this box, please consider a donation to keep Hymnary.org going.

Full Text

1 For Folkene i Dødens Nat
Skal Livets Lys oprinde,
Et Frelsens Straalebanner, sat
Med Kraft paa Klippetinde,
Forsamle skal en talløs Hær
Af hedensk Stamme fjern og nær,
Vor Herre at tilbede.

2 Ja, Hedninges og Isra'ls Trøst!
Til dig de skulle komme
Fra Nord ot Syd, fra Vest og Øst,
Fra Kilder tOrre, tomme,
Og kappes om at komme først,
At slukke Sjælens dybe Tørst
I deine Naadestrømme.

3 Af alle Tungemaal paa Jord
Din Pris du høit skal bære;
Med Herlighed og Ære stor
Et Folk du skal regjere
Af alle Sl"gter trindt omkring,
Et Folk, som over alle Ting
Dig elske skal og lyde.

4 Een Hjord du samler, Hyrde god,
Een hellig Kirkeskare,
Udsprungen af een rod, eet Blod,
Dit eget dyrebare,
Forenet ved een Tro, een Daab,
Een Aand, eet Kald eet Livsens Haab,
Een Herre, Gud og Fader.

In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries. Go to person page >
