1 Forward go, the Lord is calling, calling to the battle field;
Up! arise, and gladly haste to gird the armor on;
Fear you not, His glorious strength shall be your sword and shield;
Bravely fight until the day of victory shall dawn.
Forward! forward to battle for the right;
Till the world for Christ is won.
A glorious beacon light!
Shoulder to shoulder, help to bring
The world to Christ our King!
2 Forward go, and falter not, for mighty is the wiley foe;
Faithful be, although the battle rages fierce and long;
Never yield, but trust in God for He will grace bestow,
An at last you shall defeat the pow’r of sin and wrong. [Refrain]
3 Forward go with faith and song, whatever may thy way betide,
And to Christ, you leader, ever true and loyal be;
Trust and pray, His mighty arm thro’ dangers safe will guide;
Forward go, for He will lead you on to victory. [Refrain]
Katharyn Bacon was born in 1884 and lived in the hills of Tennessee. She liked books, flowers, garden and being close to nature. She was most likely married to George W. Bacon since a lot of her hymns appear in hymnals he edited.
