During our last fund drive a donor said this: "Covid-19 rules prevent us from singing during my husband's burial service, so we will play the tune while we read the printed words or hum along with the music." Needless to say, this testimony struck us and stuck with us. We never know on any given day how Hymnary.org will be a blessing to people, but we know that around the world, the site is making a powerful difference in the lives of many.

Thanks to all who use Hymnary.org and all who support it with gifts of time, talent and treasure. If you feel moved to support our work today with a gift of any amount and a word of encouragement, we would be grateful.

What though my joys and comfort die?
The Lord my savior liveth.
What though the darkness gather round?
Songs in the night he giveth.

Representative Text

1 Fred i Jesu Død vi skylde,
Kunde, burde, alle faa;
Hvert hans Saar er her tilfulde
Pant, Bevis og Segl derpaa;
Alle raaber og forkynder:
Her er Fred, beklemte Synder!

2 Kom kun du, som sukker under
Lovens Trudsel, mat og træt!
Kan du ei af Jesu Vunder
Fatte end hans Mening ret?
Sandelig, han bar din Smerte,
saa er du jo fri, mit Hjerte.

3 Nu far vel med alle dine
Tordenstraaler, Sinai!
Sandelig, han bar min Pine,
Dermed er min Straf forbi;
Hver en Draabe Blod, der flyder,
Mig med Naade overgyder.

4 Jesus, hold kun Sjælen hjemme
I din Smertes søde ro;
Lad din aabne Side gjemme
al min Længsel, Haab og Tro!
Saa skal du i Paradiset
Af mig evig vorde priset.
