The Palaces of Glory

Representative Text

1 From the city built up yonder,
Where no twilight shadow falls
On its sparkling crystal river
Or its gleaming jasper walls,
Angel’s voices sweetly echo
‘Round me while below I roam,
To the palaces of glory
They are calling me to come.

Refrain:
Calling, sweetly calling,
To the palaces of glory
Angel voices call me home,
I will meet the waiting loved ones
In that city built on high.

2 Some sweet day my soul shall answer
Gladly to the angel’s call,
And with griefs and trials over
I shall go beyond them all.
Breaking each detaining fetters
Then y spirit shall be free,
In the palaces of glory
Dwelling through eternity. [Refrain]

3 Some fair morning to my vision
Will a wondrous light unfold,
And instead of time’s dim pathways
I shall tread the streets of gold.
Then, although my feet grew weary,
I shall know the way I trod
Led to palaces of glory
In the city of our God. [Refrain]
