Give ear, O Lord, to hear. W. Hunnis. [Lent.] Appeared in his Seven Sobs of a Sorrowful Soul for Sin, 1585, in 3 stanzas of 8 lines, and entitled, "An humble sute of a Repentant Sinner for Mercie." In 1845 it was reprinted in E. Farr's Select Poetry, &c, of the Reign of Queen Elizabeth, vol. i. p. 157. From that work it passed into Kennedy, 1863, No. 398, in an altered form as, "Attend, O Lord, and hear." [William T. Brooke]
