Hymnary Friends,

Please pardon this brief interruption, and please consider a gift today to support the work of Hymnary.org. Here's why.

Each month half a million people visit this website for free access to the most complete database of North American hymnody on the planet. But this project does not come without a cost, and we have limited sources of revenue. Twice a year we hold a fund drive, and these drives are critical to our future.

So if you benefit from Hymnary.org, would you consider a donation today? Even small amounts help, and they also let us know you're behind us and support what we do.

Click the Donate button below to be taken to a secure giving site. Or you can make your tax-deductible contribution by sending a check to Hymnary.org at 3201 Burton SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

On behalf of the entire Hymnary.org team, our thanks.

Representative Text

1 I have left all to follow my Saviour,
Where He may lead by night or by day;
And I’m resolved that I will be faithful
To my dear Friend the whole of the way.

Refrain:
I have left all to follow my Saviour,
To follow my Lord each hour of the day,
I have left all to follow my Saviour,
Willing to go each step of the way.

2 I have left all to follow my Saviour,
Ev’ry desire I merge in His will;
Tho’ He may walk the valley of sorrow,
All of the way I’ll go with Him still. [Refrain]

3 I have left all to follow my Saviour,
All of my pride and sinful desires;
Willing to be conformed to His image,
Ready to do whate’er He requires. [Refrain]

4 I have left all to follow my Saviour,
Never will I turn back to the world;
Then I shall reign with Jesus in glory,
After the stars from heaven are hurl’d. [Refrain]

Johnson Oatman, Jr., son of Johnson and Rachel Ann Oatman, was born near Medford, N. J., April 21, 1856. At the age of nineteen he joined the M.E. Church, and a few years later he was granted a license to preach the Gospel, and still later he was regularly ordained by Bishop Merrill. However, Mr. Oatman only serves as a local preacher. For many years he was engaged with his father in the mercantile business at Lumberton… Go to person page >
