Representative Text

1 I know how little boys and girls
May please their loving Savior;
It is by gentle, kindly deeds,
By good and sweet behavior;
I know the way to win His smile
And grow like Him in beauty,
It is by giving Him our hearts
And doing all our duty.

2 I know how we may hear the song
That saints in heav'n are singing,
I know how we may catch the tune,
And keep its echoes ringing--
It is by list'ning for the theme
Which swells o'er all creation,
The theme of love for Christ our King,
Who died for our salvation.

3 I know how we may walk with God
When life at last is ended,
And looking backward see the way
Our steps have ever tended,
It is thro' walking day by day
The path He sets before us,
Until we reach His throne at last,
And join the heav'nly chorus.
