Faithful and True

Representative Text

1 I want to be faithful to Jesus,
No matter what path I pursue;
I want to live close to the Saviour,
I want to be faithful and true.

I want to be true to the Master,
I'll do what he bids me to do;
I want to be faithful to Jesus,
I want to be faithful and true.

2 In face of the foes that oppose me,
By faith I will fight my way through;
Since I have been called by the Master,
I want to be faithful and true. [Chorus]

3 I've thoughts in my heart I must conquer,
And evil desires to subdue;
But if I'm to bear his dear image,
I want to be faithful and true. [Chorus]

4 For only to those who are faithful
A bright crown is held up to view;
So, until he calls me to glory,
I want to be faithful and true. [Chorus]

At the age of nineteen he joined the M.E. Church, and a few years later he was granted a license to preach the Gospel, and still later he was regularly ordained by Bishop Merrill. However, Mr. Oatman only serves as a local preacher. For many years he was engaged with his father in the mercantile business at Lumberton… Go to person page >
