Kristi blod og retfærdighed

Representative Text

1 Christi Glod og Retfærdighed
er Alt, hvad jeg vil smykkes med;
Derme jeg kan for Gud bestaa,
Naar jeg i Himlen skal indgaa.

2 Min Frelser mig af Døden drog,
Thi al min Synd han paa sig tog;
Han siger selv: hvo trot paa mig,
Den skal ei dø evindelig.

3 Jeg tror, at Jesus ved sit Blod
Har gjort for alle Synder bod,
At dette blod evindelig
Skal gjælde og skal frelse mig.

4 Den Haandskrift, sommig var imod,
Udslettet er ved Christi Blod;
Jeg trot, at Jesus den borttog,
Og trofast den til Korset slog.

5 Thi skal det blod, han har udøst,
Forblive her mit Hjertes Trøst;
I Livet og i Dødens Nød
Min Tro er sat til Jesu Død.

6 Jeg Arme ar i Syndens Magt,
Men Christus sønderrev den Pagt;
Han drog mig ud af Fiendens Vold,
Da han betalte Syndens Sold.

7 Til Syndens Lyst jeg sige vil:
Vig bort! jeg hører Christo til,
Jeg skylder ei at lyde dig,
Thi Christus har mig kjøbt til sig.

8 Dog, om min Troskab blev saa stor,
At jeg i Gjerning, Hu og Ord,
Ved Christi Kraft fra Synd blev fri:
Jeg havde dog ei Ros deri.

9 Nei, kun at Christus for mig led,
Mig hjælpe kan til Salighed;
Nei, hverken lidet eller stort,
Det hjælpe kan, hvad jeg har gjort.

10 Thi skal man skrive paa min Grav,
At Christi Død mig Livet gav,
At for hans Blod jeg haabed' paa
Hos hannem hist et Sted at faa.

Zinzendorf, Count Nicolaus Ludwig, the founder of the religious community of Herrnhut and the apostle of the United Brethren, was born at Dresden May 26, 1700. It is not often that noble blood and worldly wealth are allied with true piety and missionary zeal. Such, however, was the case with Count Zinzendorf. In 1731 Zinzendorf resigned all public duties and devoted himself to missionary work. He traveled extensively on the Continent, in Great Britain, and in America, preaching "Christ, and him crucified," and organizing societies of Moravian brethren. John Wesley is said to have been under obligation to Zinzendorf for some ideas on singing, organization of classes, and Church government. Zinzendorf was the author of some two thousand hymn… Go to person page >
