Representative Text

1 Long ago many left us for that land of glory,
And our hearts with sorrow did o’erflow;
But we know we shall meet them by the crystal river
When around us tempests cease to blow.

Chorus:
We shall meet one another up in heaven,
We shall meet one another up in heaven;
When the cares of life are o’er
We shall meet to part no more;
We shall meet one another up in heaven.

2 Earthly ties may be broken—friend from friend may sever,
At the brink of death’s relentless sea;
But in heav’n, by and by, with them we’ll by united,
And together spend eternity. [Chorus]

3 There’ll be songs of rejoicing at that glorious meeting,
Over on that bright celestial shore;
As we meet all the loved ones that have gone before us,
And with them shall dwell forevermore. [Chorus]
