We don't often ask for money. Just twice a year. This is one of those times.

So, please, before you hit the "close" button on this box, would you consider a donation to keep Hymnary.org going?

In April 2020, according to Google Analytics, our Hymnary website had roughly 1.5 million sessions from approximately 1 million users. Both numbers were up 40% from April 2019. Amazing. And what a blessing! But it is expensive to serve all of these people -- worship leaders, hymnologists, hymn lovers and more -- people like you who love hymns.

And we have limited sources of revenue. This fund drive is one critical source.

So if you benefit from Hymnary.org, would you please consider a donation today? Even small amounts help, and they also let us know you're behind us and support what we do.

You can make your tax-deductible contribution by sending a check to Hymnary.org at 3201 Burton SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, or you can click the Donate button below.

1 Min Sjæl, om du vil nogen Tid
Din Gud i Sandhed prise,
Da bør du af al Mag og Flid
Ny Lydighed bevise!

2 Forgjæves du til Kirke gaar,
Paa herrens Ord at høre,
Om hjem igjen du glemsom gaar,
Vil ei derefter gjøre.

3 Det hjælper ei, du kjender Gud,
Og veed af ham at sige,
Naar fra hans Ord og rene Bud
Du vil med Ondskab vige.

4 Om i hans Ord du speiler dig,
Og skuer Synder slemme,
O, skam dig, om du løselig
Din Skjændsel vil forglemme!

5 Om du til Evangelium,
Guds Friheds Lov, indkiger,
Da er du meget blind og dum,
Om du derfra bortviger.

6 Bliv ved Guds Bud, og lad din Tro
I kjærlig Gjerning kjende,
Saa skal du i Guds Fred og Ro
Opnaa din Troes Ende.

7 Bær Sorg vor Synden, frygt din Gud,
Din Tunge hold i Tømme,
At du dit hele Levnet ud
Hans Navn maa ret berømme!

8 Hold dig til alles Nød og Trang,
Med Hjælp og Trøst at lindre,
Lad Verden aldrig nogen Gang
Fra Kjærlighed dig hindre!

9 O søde Jesus, lad din Aand
Min Gjerning helliggjøre
Og ved din egen Almagts Haand
Min Afmagt Hjælp tilføre!

10 Saa skal min Gjerning priselig
Ved dig alene blive,
Og du af Naade Himmerig
Mig skjænke skal og give.

In his youth, Kingo wrote a series of poems picturing humorous scenes in village life and a pastoral love poem, Chrysillis. He studied theology at the University of Copenhagen, graduating in 1654, and for some time acted as private tutor. In 1661 he was appointed vicar to the pastor at Kirke Helsinge, and in 1668 he was ordained a minister at his native town, where his poetic activity began.
