1 O Gud, hvor stor og priselig
Din Naade er at skatte,
Som over Verden strækker sig
Fuld længer, end vi fatte!
Hvert Øie maa
Dig vogte paa,
Du ser og med dit Øie
Udi din Arv,
Til alles Tarv
At hjælpe og fornøie.

2 Vi se nu her sat om paa Bord
De fulde Fad og Skaale,
O Herre, du os ved dit Ord
Velsignelse tilmaale!
Giv, dagligt Brød
Vi til vor Død
Foruden Synd kan nyde,
Og at vi maa
En Levning faa
Den Fattige at yde!

3 Saa sætte vi os dermed ned,
At nyde dine Gaver,
Som du af din Barmhjertighed
Saa kjærlig givet haver,
Og bede dig
Ret inderlig,
Selv være her tilsted,
Og endelig
I Himerrig
Os samle til din Glæde!

In 1661 he was appointed vicar to the pastor at Kirke Helsinge, and in 1668 he was ordained a minister at his native town, where his poetic activity began.
