O Herr Jesu, Ehrenkönig, Die Ernt ist groß, der Schnitter wenig

O Herr Jesu, Ehrenkönig, Die Ernt ist groß, der Schnitter wenig

Representative Text

1 O Herr Jesu, Ehrenkönig,
die Ernt ist groß, der Schnitter wenig,
drum sende treue Zeugen aus!
Send auch uns hinaus in Gnaden,
viel frohe Gäste einzuladen
zum Mahl in deines Vaters Haus.
Wohl dem, den deine Wahl
beruft zum Abendmahl
im Reich Gottes!
Da ruht der Streit,
da währt die Freud
heut, gestern und in Ewigkeit.

2 Schau auf deine Millionen,
die och im Todesschatten wohnen
von deinem Himmelreiche fern!
Seit Jahrtausenden ist ihnen
kein Evangelium erschienen,
kein gnadenreicher Morgenstern.
Glanz der Gerechtigkeit,
geh auf, denn es ist Zeit!
Komm Herr Jesu!
zieh uns voran
und mach uns Bahn,
gieb deine Thüren aufgethan!
