During our last fund drive one donor said this: "I love hymns ... If you asked for money, it means you need it! Please keep the work going. And please, accept my widow's mite. God bless you."

She was right. We only ask for money twice a year, and we do so because we need it.

So, before you close this box and move on to use the many resources on Hymnary.org, please prayerfully consider whether you might be able to make a gift to support our work. O lasset uns Ihn lieben

Representative Text

1 O lasset uns Ihn lieben,
der uns zuerst geliebt,
und nicht den Geist betrüben,
den uns der Heiland gibt!
Nach Ihm sei das Verlangen,
der Sich uns nahgebracht,
die Liebe zu empfangen,
die uns so selig macht.

2 O lasset uns Ihn lieben,
der uns zuerst geliebt!
Am Kreuze stehts geschrieben,
was Er für Liebe übt:
Er ist für uns gestorben,
bedeckt mit unsrer Schuld;
so hat Er uns erworben
des Vaters Herz und Huld.

3 O lasset uns Ihn lieben,
der uns zuerst geliebt,
uns in der Liebe üben,
die andern gern vergibt,
die in dem Bruder ehret
des Heilands Ebenbild,
zu dienen nur begehret,
von Christi Sinn erfüllt!

4 Ja, lasset uns Ihn lieben,
der uns zuerst geliebt!
Von Seinem Geist getrieben,
es keine Schranken gibt.
So sehr wir an Ihm hangen,
der uns zuerst geliebt,
so sehr wir auch verlangen,
daß unser Herz Ihn liebt.
