O tänk, när i Guds fröjdesal

Representative Text

1 O tänk, när i Guds fröjdesal
En gång församlas skall
Af jordens många släkters tal
De frälstas skara all!
De frälstas skara all!

2 O tänk, när Herrens vittneshär,
Hans tjänare på jord,
De millioner möta där,
Som hörde deras ord!
Som hörde deras ord!

3 O tänk, hvad frid i himlens höjd,
Hvad kärlek, tacksamhet,
O tänk, hvad lof och pris och fröjd
Och ljus och härlighet!

4 O Herre, hvad din nåd är stor,
Oss alla till dig drag,
Att vi må stå bland frälstas kor
På denna högtidsdag!
På denna högtidsdag!

Wexels, Wilhelm Andreas. (Copenhagen, Denmark, March 29, 1797--May 14, 1866, Oslo, Norway). Lutheran. After studies in Copenhagen and Christiana (Oslo), became catechist and curate of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Christiana. Preached against the inroads of rationalism, emphasizing the need for spiritual revival. Church historians claim that his ministry was the turning point in the Church of Norway. Failed in his attempt to give Norway a hymnal, but many of his hymns survived. --J. Irving Erickson, DNAH Archives Go to person page >
