John W. Shackford is a retired Methodist minister now in his eighty-ninth year, living in Waynesville, North Carolina. He has had a distinguished career centering in the activities of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. He served on the staff of the General Sunday School Board of that Church, and was one of the founders of the International Council of Religious Education. He has served pastorates in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. He is the author of various hymns including one of the Hymn Society's Christian Education Hymns and one of the Society's Social Welfare Hymns. ----Ten New Hymns on the Ministry, 1966.
