Nearer to Jesus

O to be nearer to Jesus

Author: Harriet E. Jones
Tune: [O to be nearer to Jesus]
Published in 1 hymnal

Audio files: MIDI

Representative Text

1 O to be nearer to Jesus,
O to be like Him in mind;
O to be near, and forever
Submissive, unselfish and king.

Refrain:
Come to my heart, Holy Spirit,
Come, all the dross to consume,
That I may be like dear Jesus,
Come, this poor heart to illume.

2 O to be meet for His service,
Ever my duty to see;
O to be just as He bids me—
Be just what He wants me to be. [Refrain]

3 O to be free from all doubtings,
Never give place to a fear;
O to feel daily and hourly
That Jesus is preciously near. [Refrain]
