The King's highway

O who will stand up for Jesus

Author: Lewis Hartsough
Published in 2 hymnals

Representative Text

1 O who'll stand up for Jesus,
The lowly Nazarene?
And raise the blood-stained banner
Amid the hosts of sin?

Refrain:
The cross for Christ I'll cherish,
Its crucifixion bear;
All hail! reproach and sorrow,
If Jesus leads me there.

2 O who will follow Jesus
Amid reproach and shame?
Where others shrink and falter
Who'll glory in his name? [Refrain]

3 Tho' fierce may rage the battle,
And wild the storms may blow,
Tho' friends may go forever,
I will with Jesus go. [Refrain]

4 My all to Christ I've given,
My talents, time and voice,
Myself, my reputation;
The lone way is my choice. [Refrain]

5 O Jesus Jesus, Jesus,
My all sufficient friend!
Come, fold me to thy bosom,
E'en to the journey's end. [Refrain]
