1 Precious an­chor of the soul,
’Tis a gift from God’s own hand,
Bringing last­ing peace and com­fort,
If the heart will un­der­stand;
Looking for a ha­ven fair,
We will cast all fear aside,
Till the hope He set with­in us
Shall in­deed be jus­ti­fied.

Trusting God who reigns ab­ove,

Faith need ne­ver ship­wrecked be,
Tho’ grim rocks or shoals may threat­en
On the op­en, un­tried sea;
Knowing be­tter days will come,
Faith can wea­ther any gale,
If its an­chor sure and stead­fast

When dis­tress and sor­row come,
Hope can link the ach­ing heart u­nto
Its glad, eter­nal home,
Where in shin­ing realms of light,
Love shall find again its own,
With their fac­es bright with glo­ry
