Ruin, Redemption, Regeneration

Representative Text

1 Ruin by sin, and Redemption by blood,
Regeneration as wrought by the word,
Born of the Spirit when Christ I receive
This is the gospel in which I believe.

Refrain:
Ruin by sin, and Redemption by blood;
Listen, oh, listen, ‘tis God’s precious word;
Jesus accepting, you shall surely receive
Regeneration when on Him you believe.

2 Ruined by sin—surely this I confess;
Nothing of good of myself I possess;
Evil is present when good I would do;
Hopeless I stand when I’m judged by the law. [Refrain]

3 Ransomed by blood—there is no other way;
Where there is debt there is something to pay;
Where there is sin there’s an uplifted sword;
Blessed be God for “Redemption by blood.” [Refrain]

4 “Regeneration”—ah, this is my need;
Sinful by nature and sinful in deed;
Born of the spirit and ransomed by grace;
Nothing but this could bring God’s perfect peace. [Refrain]

5 Fully confessing the sins I have done,
Jesus accepting as Saviour alone,
Resting my soul on His own faithful word—
This is salvation—Redemption by blood. [Refrain]
