In his name

Representative Text

1 The mandates of the Lord are just,
His way the paths of right;
His guidance leads to victory,
For his the arm of might.
His spirit from the tempter's pow'r
Shall be a shield and stay;
His never-sleeping, watchful eye
A guide by night and day.

Chorus:
In the name of Christ our Savior
We will conquer, by the by;
We will never lay the armor down
'Till we dwell with him on high.

2 "The Lord of hosts shall arm the right"
To triumph over sin;
His grace shall make them strong, indeed,
A victory to win.
O who can stand against the host,
If he be on their side?
Take courage, fainting heart, look up;
'Tis well that shall betide. [Chorus]

3 Enlisted! Yea, unto the end,
A mighty phalanx we,
Enlisted for our Savior, King
A conqu'ring host to be.
Not ours to falter and retreat,
Nor lay the armor down,
Till we shall tread before his throne,
Accepted as his own. [Chorus]

4 Press on! With courage strong press on
Against the mighty foe;
His kingdom's ever sure increase
Remotest earth must know.
Press on! Altho' the battle rage,
It cannot long endure;
For Jesus will in triumph lead,
The victory is sure. [Chorus]
