Representative Text

1 The world was hushed in a dreamless sleep,
When Jesus came to earth;
And shepherds guarding their wand’ring sheep,
Heard of the Saviour’s birth.

Refrain:
The song of peace and goodwill to men,
Rang out in notes sublime,
This same sweet song which the angels sang,
We sing at Christmas time.
The song of peace and goodwill to men,
Rang out in notes sublime,
This same sweet song which the angels sang,
We sing at Christmas time.

2 A flood of glory lit up the sky,
And brightly led the way,
To Christ who came from God’s throne on high,
And slumbered on the hay. [Refrain]

3 The golden dawn of each Christmas morn,
For-tells of endless joy,
In Jesus Christ who for us was born,
Whose praise our tongues employ. [Refrain]
