Representative Text

1 When in the dark and dreary night,
There seemed to be no ray of light,
My mind was filled with doubt and fear,
I knew not that my Lord was near.

Refrain:
O magnify the Lord with me!
Let us to praise His name agree,
He gives assurance by His voice,
And bids my fainting heart rejoice.

2 In my distress I looked above,
And there discerned the God of love;
To Him I cried, He saw my tears,
And set me free from all my fears. [Refrain]

3 I’ll therefore walk in wisdom’s ways,
His holy name I’ll ever praise.
His courts I’ll tread with cheerful songs,
For all my praise to Him belongs. [Refrain]

4 When I have run my earthly race,
I’ll find in Him a dwelling place,
Secure with Him I’ll ever live,
And to Him constant praises give. [Refrain]
