Representative Text

1 Hark! what means the sound of knocking
At this long, long bolted door?
Can it be the loving Savior
Who so kindly calls once more?

Refrain:
Lo! the blessed Savior knocketh;
Open wide to Him the door;
He the blessings surely giveth—
Joy and peace forevermore.

2 I’m not sure that He will ever
With that gentle, loving hand,
Knock again and bid me welcome
To that happier, better land. [Refrain]

3 Oh! do not refuse admittance
For His errand is so great;
There’s no other friend to guide thee
To the royal path so strait. [Refrain]

4 Oh! the joy His message brought me
When I opened wide the door;
Jesus entered, cleansed and blessed me;
I’m His child forevermore. [Refrain]
