Asa B. Everett (1828-1875) Born: 1828, Vir­gin­ia. Died: Sep­tem­ber 1875, near Nash­ville, Ten­nes­see. Everett orig­in­al­ly planned to be a do­ctor, but went in­to mu­sic in­stead. He stu­died in Bos­ton, Mass­a­chu­setts, and Leip­zig, Ger­ma­ny. He wrote ma­ny Gos­pel songs, and ed­it­ed The Scep­tre (New York: Big­low & Main, 1871). His bro­thers were also com­pos­ers, Ben­ja­min Holden Everett and Leonard C. Ev­er­ett.
