87. Say, my soul, what preparation

Say, my soul, what preparationr /> Makest thou for this high day,r /> When the God of thy salvationr /> Opened through the tomb a way?r /> Dwellest thou with pure affectionr /> On this proof of pow'r and love?r /> Doth thy Savior's resurrectionr /> Raise thy thoughts to things above?r />

Hast thou, borne on faith's strong pinion,r /> Risen with the risen Lord?r /> And, released from sin's dominion,r /> Into purer regions soared?r /> Or art thou, in spite of warning,r /> Dead in trespasses and sin?r /> Hath to thee the purple morningr /> No true Easter ushered in?r />

Let no precious time be wasted,r /> To new life arise at length:r /> He who death for thee hath tasted,r /> For new life will give thee strength;r /> In Him rise, at once bestir thee,r /> Still pass on and persevere,r /> Let no weariness deter thee,r /> He who woke thee still is near.r />

See! thy Lord Himself is risen,r /> That thou mightest also rise,r /> And emerge from sin's dark prisonr /> To new life and open skies.r /> Come to Him who can unbind thee,r /> And reverse thy awful doom;r /> Come to Him, and leave behind theer /> Thy old life--an empty tomb!
