87. Where I Found Him

1 My soul was in misery, lost in the night,
Not a moment I knew of repose;
For pleasure of evil had robbed me of sight,
Till no light could my visions disclose.

Refrain:
‘Twas there that I found a Friend to redeem,
My soul by His love for me;
‘Twas there I beheld the wonderful stream,
Of Grace flowing full and free.

2 I heard of the Cross upon Calvary’s brown,
Where the Christ makes the sightless to see,
My heart filled with joy as I tho’t, even now,
If I seek He has healing for me. [Refrain]

3 I lifted my eyes to the Savior and cried,
“Lord, restore a vile sinner like me,”
And there I remained at the Cross where He died,
Till by grace I was cleansed and made free. [Refrain]

4 With newness of life now I journey tow’rd home,
In the Service of Jesus my King;
The message of Calvary bids you to come,
If your soul would be happy and sing.
