Text: | A Blue-bird Over the Treetops Flew |
Author: | Louise M. Oglevee |
Tune: | THE BLUEBIRD SONG |
Composer: | William G. Oglevee |
1 A blue-bird over the tree-tops flew,
His breast was red and his wings were blue,
And he sang for joy the whole day thro',
To tell it was Easter time.
2 A bulb lay withered and brown and dead;
But the sun awoke it in its bead,
And a pure white lily raised its head
To tell it was Easter time.
3 An Easter gift by a child was sent
To a land where none knew what Easter meant.
Far away with joyous news it went
To tell it was Easter time.
