| Text: | A Physician wanted |
| Translator: | John M. Neale |
1 And wilt thou hear, O Lord,
Thy suppliant people's cry?
And pardon, though thy book record
Our crimes of crimson dye?
2 So deep are they engraved,
So terrible their fear:
The righteous scarcely shall be saved,
And where shall we appear?
3 Let us make all things known
To him who all things sees:
That so his blood may yet atone
For our iniquities.
4 O thou, Physician blest,
Make clean the guilty soul;
And us, by many a sin oppressed,
Restore, and keep us whole!
