Text: | Lo! he comes with clouds descending |
Author: | Charles Wesley, 1707-88 |
Tune: | STORL |
Composer: | Johann G. C. Storl, 1675 - 1719 |
1 Lo! he comes with clouds descending,
Once for favored sinners slain;
Thousand thousand saints attending
Swell the triumph of his train:
Alleluia!
God appears on earth to reign.
2 Every eye shall now behold him
Robed in glorious majesty;
Those who set at nought and sold him,
Pierced and nailed him to the Tree,
Deeply wailing,
Shall their true Messiah see. A-men.
3 Those dear tokens of his passion
Still his dazzling body bears;
Cause of wondering exultation
To his ransomed worshippers;
With what rapture
Praise we him for all his scars.
4 Yea, amen, let all adore thee,
High on thine eternal throne;
Saviour, take the power and glory,
Claim the kingdom as thine own:
Alleluia!
Thou shalt reign, and thou alone!
Amen.
