112. Luk Øine op, o Kristenhed!

1 Luk Øine op, o Kristenhed!
Thi Jesus vil dig lære,
Hvordan du from og vel bered
Kan mod hans Tilkomst være,
At Lys og Lampe brænde maa,
Du med din Brudgom ind kan gaa
Til evig Fryd og Ære.

2 Af Skriften har vi Trøst og Haab
Taalmodelig at lide,
Omstjønt blandt Trængsel, Suk og Raab
Vi Tiden end skal slide:
Den Tid er dog saa ganske kort,
Som Fuglen flyver hastig bort,
Saa skal vor Sorg henskride.

3 Taalmodigheds og Trøstens Gud
Han give, at vi kunde
Med eet Sind holde stadig ud,
Og længes alle Stunde,
At vi vor Jesus kunde se
I Skyen, da vor Verdens Ve
Skal evig gaa til Grunde.

4 Gid vi og kan endrægtelig,
De Gamle med de Unge,
Den store Gud i Himmerig
Med Hjerte, Mund og Tunge,
Fordi han Hedninger indbød,
At nyde Frugt af Jesu Død,
Lov, Pris og Ære sjunge!
