140. We Will Set up Our Banners

1 In the name of our God we will set up our banners,
And proclaim the glad tidings from mountain and plain,
Grandly onward the cause of our Lord is advancing,
Truth triumphant o’er error forever shall reign.

In the name of our God we will set up our banners,
Far and near let the emblem divine be unfurled,
Tell abroad o’er land and sea, wrong and darkness soon must flee,
For the kingdom of Christ shall with light fill the world.

2 We will set up the banners of love and salvation,
In the name of our God, which endureth for aye,
More and more shall the pow’r of our Lord be exalted
Till the nations of earth all shall yield to His sway. [Refrain]

3 In the glorious army enlisted for Jesus
We will seek to keep step with the faithful and strong,
And led on by the Lord, in His strength overcoming,
We will sing with rejoicing the conqueror’s song. [Refrain]

4 Tho’ the marching be long and the conflict be weary,
With the vision of faith our reward we now view,
Loving praise from our Master, palm-branches of glory
And life’s crown shall be ours when the warfare is through. [Refrain]
