Notes: Responsive reading of Psalm 68 included. The refrain and responsive reading may be used as an optional introduction to the singing of "Approach Our God with Songs of Praise" The grand procession of God presented in Ps. 68 should be evident in the way this instance is enacted in worship. For example, the leader parts of the reading may be read by different voices, beginning at the back of the sanctuary. At each singing of the refrain, the readers move forward so that by the end of the reading they are at the front of the sanctuary. At this point the congregation may sing in response “Approach Our God with Songs of Praise.” A short instrumental interlude between the responsive reading and the singing of the metrical psalm will help to bridge the two pieces together. The triumphant refrain makes this especially appropriate for Easter or Ascension celebrations, and in conjunction with sermons dealing with the Second Advent.
