1881 - 1955 Arranged of "Happy Day" in Melodies of Love Bernard Bates Edmiaston Born: July 16, 1881, Bennetts, Baxter County, Arkansas. Died: December 2, 1964, Bronte, Texas. Buried: Fairview Cemetery, Bronte, Texas. Bernard was the son of David W. Edmiaston and Georgia Ann Fluty, and husband of Ella Allen. He studied music under Rufus Turner, Franklin Eiland, W. H. Lawson, Berry McGee, Emmett Dean, G. W. Fields, John Herbert, and many others, and taught singing schools for at least 38 years. He wrote and published songs through the Trio Music Company, Waco, Texas, and was director of the Southern Development Normal School of Music in Waco.

Ira’s father was song writer Elisha Hoffman. His middle name was his mother’s maiden name. At age nine, he is said to have written the music for his father’s song "The Little Pilgrim;" as an adult, he was a composer, arranger, and music editor. His works include:

1844 - 1907 Author of "Where He Leads Me I Will Follow" in Songs of Faith and Praise Rv John Samuel Norris United Kingdom/USA 1844-1907. Born at West Cowes, Isle of Wight, UK, he emigrated to the US when young and attended school in Canada. He was ordained a Methodist minister in Oshawa, ON, in 1868. Over the next decade he pastored at churches in Canada, NY, and WI. He switched to the Congregationalist denomination in 1878, serving churches in Mondovi, Shullsburg, and Hixton, WI, and Grand Rapids, MI. From 1882 -1901 he held pastorates at Ames, Webster City, Parkersburg, Peterson, and Tripoli, IA.. He died in Chicago, IL.

1859 - 1930 Person Name: William Edwin Entzminger, 1859-1930 Translator of "Onde Que Que For, Irei" in Hinário para o Culto Cristão William Edwin Entzminger was born in South Carolina in 1859. He earned a B.S. from Furman University in South Carolina and then went to Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY for a Doctor of Theology degree. He married Maggie Grace Griffith, and together they became Baptist missionaries in Brazil in 1891. He wrote and translated many hymns.

Entzminger studied at Furman University and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky. In 1891, he and his wife went to Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, where he worked as a missionary the rest of his life. He translated over 73 hymns into Portuguese, and wrote original Portuguese lyrics, as well.
