He graduated from Boston University, 1922; from Meadville Theological School, 1926; and took the degree of M.A. at the University of Chicago, 1928. He served as minister of Unitarian churches in Chicago, Illinois; Schenectady, N.Y.; and Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1949 he became Director of the American Humanist Association. John Holmes

1904 - 1962 Author of "The people's peace" in Hymns for the Celebration of Life Holmes, John. (Somerville, Massachusetts, January 6, 1904--1962). He took the degree of B.S. at Tufts College in 1929, and the next year was a student at Harvard. Since then he has taught at Tufts University, rising to the rank of Associate Professor of English. Author of numerous articles and books.
