Neale Meter: 8.8.8 with alleluia Appears in 192 hymnals First Line: O sons and daughters of the King Lyrics: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! 1 O sons and daughters of the King, whom heavenly hosts in glory sing, today the grave has lost its sting. Alleluia! 2 That Easter morn at break of day, the faithful women went their way to seek the tomb where Jesus lay. Alleluia! 3 An angel clad in white they see, who sat and spoke unto the three, "Your Lord has gone to Galilee." Lord have mercy! 5 At night the apostles met in fear; among them came their Master dear and said, "My peace be with you here." Alleluia! 6 "My pierced side, O Thomas, see, and look upon my hands, my feat; not faithless but believing be." Alleluia! 7 No longer Thomas then denied; he saw the feet, the hands, the side. "You are my Lord and God!" he cried. Alleluia! 8 How blest are they who have not seen and yet whose faith has constant been, for they eternal life shall win. Alleluia! Song of Zechariah (Blessed Be the God of Israel)

Author: Carl P. Daw, Jr. Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Appears in 18 hymnals First Line: Blessed be the God of Israel, who comes to set us free Lyrics: 1 Blessed be the God of Israel, who comes to set us free and raises up new hope for us: a Branch from David’s tree. So have the prophets long declared that with a mighty arm God would turn back our enemies and all who wish us harm. 2 With promised mercy will God still the covenant recall, the oath once sworn to Abraham, from foes to save us all, that we might worship without fear and offer lives of praise, in holiness and righteousness to serve God all our days. 3 My child, as prophet of the Lord, you will prepare the way, to tell God’s people they are saved from sin’s eternal sway. Then shall God’s mercy from on high shine forth and never cease to drive away the gloom of death and lead us into peace. If Christ Had Not Been Raised from Death

Author: Christopher Idle Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Appears in 7 hymnals Lyrics: 1 If Christ had not been raised from death our faith would be in vain, our preaching but a waste of breath, our sin and guilt remain. But now the Lord is risen indeed; he rules in earth and heaven: his gospel meets a world of need — in Christ we are forgiven. 2 If Christ still lay within the tomb then death would be the end, and we should face our final doom with neither guide nor friend. But now the Savior is raised up, so when a Christian dies we mourn, yet look to God in hope — in Christ the saints arise! 3 If Christ had not been truly raised his Church would live a lie; his name should nevermore be praised, his words deserve to die. But now our great Redeemer lives; through him we are restored: his word endures, his Church revives in Christ, our risen Lord. Topics: All Saints Day; Comfort and Encouragement; Funerals; Resurrection Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:12-20 Used With Tune: [If Christ had not been raised from death]
