1856 - 1949 Person Name: Mrs. F. G. Burroughs Hymnal Number: 264 Author of "Transformed" in Christian Service Songs F. G. Burroughs was born in 1856 (nee Ophelia G. Browning) was the daughter of William Garretson Browning, a Methodist Episcopal minister, and Susan Rebecca Webb Browning. She married Thomas E. Burroughs in 1884. He died in 1904. She married Arthur Prince Adams, in 1905. He was a minister. Her poem, "Unanswered yet" which was written in 1879, was published in the The Christian Standard in 1880 with the name F. G. Browning. She also wrote under the name of Ophelia G. Adams and Mrs. T. E. Burroughs. 1892 - 1934 Person Name: C. H. G., Jr. Hymnal Number: 46 Author of "Tell It To-Day" in Christian Service Songs Born: March 2, 1892, San Francisco, California. Pseudonym: Jean Howard. Gabriel was living with his parents in Cook County, Illinois, in 1910. He was still there in 1920 with his wife Ethel. In 1926, he was musical director and announcer for radio station KLX in Oakland, California. By 1930, he and his wife were in Los Angeles County, California. The January 30, 1926 issue of Colliers magazine said of him: "Gabe" has experienced all those changes which the Fates deem necessary to broaden one’s views. He has taught music in the Indianapolis [Indiana] and Northwestern Conservatories; edited mechanical and automobile magazines; traveled with Billy Sunday; been a newspaper reporter; rewrite man; music editor and book reviewer. In his spare time he has managed to produce eight hundred compositions which have been printed.
