Priscilla Wright

b. 1928 Meter: Irregular Versifier of "Fear Not, Rejoice and Be Glad" in Psalter Hymnal (Gray) Priscilla Wright (b. Dallas, TX, 1928) studied at community colleges in Denver and Dallas and also studied theology at Christ for the Nations Institute of Biblical Studies in Dallas. She worked in inner-city social services for the Church of the Redeemer in Dallas and was the house director for the Dallas Ronald McDonald House, a residence for families of hospitalized children. Wright cites her association with the Church of the Redeemer (Episcopal) as the most prominent influence in her life: “There was always the awesome awareness that God was orchestrating a new thing [in charismatic Christian worship], and in retrospect it is evident that the renewal which took place there was a catalyst for renewal in many other parts of the world." Biodun Adebesin

b. 1928 Meter: Irregular Translator of "Jesus, We Want to Meet" in The United Methodist Hymnal Adebesin, Biodun Akinremi Olvsoji. (Lagos, Nigeria, January 1, 1928-- ). He began playing piano at the age of nine and continued studying music in school and college. He earned a certificate from Cambridge and was an associate of the Royal College of Music. He performed in jazz, theater, and club bands and orchestras. Adebesin was a teacher, banker, civil servant, and a member of the Nigerian diplomatic service. He authored Okanlawon and Ale Wa Adara and translated "Jesus, we want to meet." --Carlton R. Young, DNAH Archives

David A. Hoekema

b. 1950 Meter: Irregular Author of "You Are Our God; We Are Your People" in Psalter Hymnal (Gray) David A. Hoekema (b. Paterson, NJ, 1950) is currently a professor of philosophy at his alma mater, Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan. He received a Ph.D. from Princeton University, taught philosophy at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota (1977-1984), and was executive director of the American Philosophical Association while teaching philosophy at the University of Delaware (1984-1993). In addition to many journal articles on philosophical issues, he has published Rights and Wrongs: Coercion, Punishment and the State (1986). Bert Polman
