God's truth forever stands secure,
he keeps his promise to the poor,
and none who seeks is turned away.
3 The Lord gives eyesight to the blind,
he calms and heals the troubled mind,
and sends the wounded conscience peace.
God helps the stranger in distress,
the widow and the fatherless,
and grants the prisoner glad release.
4 I'll praise you while you lend me breath,

It gives us that for which to pray,
a field for toil and faith and hope.
5 Since what we choose is what we are,
and what we love we yet shall be,
