Brown was director of California Christian Endeavor (international church youth organization) between 1930-1940. In those years this was a large organization, especially in LA-Orange County area. He wrote many spiritual songs along with his wife Margaret.

Born at Leixlip, Ireland, she was a poet and hymn lyricist. She wrote “A royal service and other poems” (1877). She was a sister to William Frederick Pigott ,a missionary to China, He was murdered in the 1901 Boxer Rebellion, along with 76 other missionaries working with missionary, Hudson Taylor, but in other parts of China.. Taylor was overcome with grief to hear of the massacre, and took much comfort in Pigott’s hymn. She died at Leixlip, Ireland. John Perry

Adolphe Adam

1803 - 1856 Hymnal Number: 143 Composer of "[O holy night! The stars are brightly shining]" in Revival Hymns and Choruses Adolph Charles Adam, born at Paris, 1803; entered the conservatory, 1817; composed several operas; went to London 1832, but soon returned to Paris, where he died, May 2, 1856, aged 53. His remans wer followed to the grave by three thousand persons; and at his death he left some music and his memoirs for publication. He was a very active composer; and among his operas are "Richard Coeur de Lion," "Le Postillon de Lonjumeau," "La Chalet," and many other popular operas. Oliver Cooke

Person Name: O. C. Hymnal Number: 189 Author (st. 1) of "I Know a Fount" in Revival Hymns and Choruses Oliver Cooke was born in Berkshire, England, in 1873, as the son of a farm labourer. When his family moved to London, Oliver was able to study music at the London College of Music and earned a certificate in organ playing. At the Salvation Army, he learned to play a cornet, and later became first a bandmaster and then a songster leader. He had his first song published in The War Cry in 1888 and for the next 50 years he continued writing songs for The Musical Salvationist , a publication for songster brigades (choirs).
