Welcome, Happy Morning

Author: John Ellerton Meter: 6.5.6.5 D Appears in 282 hymnals Scripture: Mark 16:2 Lyrics: 1 Welcome, happy morning! age to age shall say: hell today is conquered, heaven is won today. Yes, the Redeemer rose

Author: Doddridge Appears in 227 hymnals Scripture: Mark 16:6 Lyrics: 1 Yes, the Redeemer rose; The Saviour left the dead, And o'er our hellish foes High raised his conquering head; In wild dismay The guards around Fall to the ground, And sink away. 2 Behold, the angelic bands In full assembly meet, To wait his high commands, And worship at his feet: With joy they come, And wing their way From realms of day To Jesus' tomb. 3 Then back to heaven they fly, The joyful news to bear: Hark! as they soar on high, What music fills the air! Their anthems say, The Lord who bled Hath left the dead; He rose to-day. 4 Ye mortals, catch the sound, Redeemed by him from hell, And send the echo round The globe on which you dwell; Transported, cry, The Lord who bled Hath left the dead, No more to die. We live in Him

Author: C. Wordsworth Appears in 198 hymnals Scripture: Mark 16:3 First Line: See the Conqueror mounts in triumph! Lyrics: 1 See, the Conqueror mounts in triumph! See the King in royal state, Riding on the clouds, his chariot, To his heavenly palace gate! Hark! the choirs of angel voices Joyful hallelujahs sing, And the portals high are lifted To receive their heavenly King. 2 Who is this that comes in glory, With the trump of jubilee? Lord of battles, God of armies, He has gained the victory; He, who on the cross did suffer, He, who from the grave arose, He has vanquished sin and Satan, He by death has spoiled his foes. 3 Thou hast raised our human nature, On the clouds to God's right hand; There we sit in heavenly places, There with thee in glory stand; Jesus reigns, adored by angels; Man with God is on the throne; Mighty Lord! in thine ascension, We by faith behold our own. 4 Lift us up from earth to heaven, Give us wings of faith and love, Gales of holy aspirations, Wafting us to realms above; That, with hearts and minds uplifted, We with Christ our Lord may dwell, Where he sits enthroned in glory, In the heavenly citadel. 5 So at last, when he appeareth, We from out our graves may spring, With our youth renewed like eagles', Flocking round our heavenly King, Caught up on the clouds of heaven, And may meet him in the air-- Rise to realms where he is reigning, And may reign for ever there. Lift Your Glad Voices

Author: Henry Ware Jr. Meter: 10.11.11.11.12.11.10.11 Appears in 162 hymnals Scripture: Mark 16:1-8 First Line: Lift your glad voices in triumph on high Lyrics: 1 Lift your glad voices in triumph on high, for Jesus has risen and we shall not die. Vain were the terrors that gathered around him, and short the dominion of death and the grave. He burst from the fetters of evil that bound him, resplendent in glory, to live and to save. Loud was the chorus of angels on high, the Savior has risen, and we shall not die. 2 Glory to God, in full anthems of joy; the being God gave us, death cannot destroy. Sad were the life we may part with tomorrow, if tears were our birthright and death were our end. But Jesus has cheered the deep valley of sorrow, and bade us, immortal, to heaven ascend. Lift then your voices in triumph on high, for Jesus has risen, and we shall not die. By All Your Saints Still Striving

Author: Horatio Bolton Nelson Meter: 7.6.7.6 D Appears in 116 hymnals Scripture: Mark 16:1-9 Lyrics: 1 By all your saints still striving, for all your saints at rest, your holy name, O Jesus, forevermore be blessed! For those passed on before us, we sing our praise anew and, walking in their footsteps, would live our lives for you. 2 We praise you for the Baptist, forerunner of the Word, our true Elijah, making a highway for the Lord. The last and greatest prophet, he saw the dawning ray of light that grows in splendor until the perfect day. 3 All praise, O Lord, for Andrew, the first to welcome you, whose witness to his brother named you Messiah true. May we, with hearts kept open to you throughout the year proclaim to friend and neighbor your advent ever near. 4 For Magdalene we praise you, steadfast at cross and tomb. Your “Mary!” in the garden dispelled her tears and gloom. Apostle to the apostles, she ran to spread the word. Send us to shout the good news that we have seen the Lord! 5 We pray for saints we know not, for saints still yet to be, for grace to bear true witness and serve you faithfully, till all the ransomed number who stand before the throne ascribe all power and glory and praise to God alone.
