Blessed Jesus, Hear My Prayer

Author: Jonathan B. Atchinson Meter: 7.7.7.7 D Appears in 3 hymnals Lyrics: 1 Blessed Jesus, hear my prayer Upon Thee I cast my care; Lift the bondage from me now, While to Thee I humbly bow. Savior, now my sins forgive, Bid me come to Thee and live; Let Thy blood cleanse every stain, Take my heart and make it clean. 2 Teach me how to trust Thee, Lord, Teach me how to keep Thy Word; Teach me how to watch and pray, How to serve Thee every day. Blessèd Jesus, Thou art mine, Pure and holy, just, divine; Only Thee will I adore, Praise Thee now and evermore. Used With Tune: WICHITA Text Sources: Heart and Voice by William F. Bigger Barns

Author: Carolyn Winfrey Gillette Meter: 7.7.7.7 D Appears in 1 hymnal First Line: "Bigger barns are what I need" Lyrics: “Bigger barns are what I need,” so a rich man said one day. “From my worries I’ll be free when my wealth is stored away.” “Fool!” God said, “Today you’ll die!” Will that wealth mean anything? All life’s blessings really lie in the gifts that wealth can’t bring. “Bigger barns are what we need for our money, gadgets, more!” Lord, we’re tempted to believe having wealth, we’ll be secure! Somewhere children cry for food or to have a doctor’s care. Can our bigger barns be good when poor neighbors know despair? God of love, we long to know what will make us truly blest. Jesus taught us long ago wealth won’t give us peace or rest. You are our security! Safe in you, we serve, O Lord. May we find we’re rich indeed when we’re sharing with the poor. Lord, Thy Death and Passion Give

Author: Johann Heermann; Miss C. Winkworth Meter: 7.7.7.7 D Appears in 20 hymnals Lyrics: 1. Lord, Thy death and passion give Strength and comfort in my need. Ev'ry hour while here I live, On Thy love my soul shall feed. Thou didst death for me endure, And I shun all thoughts impure; Thinking on Thy bitter pains, Hushed in prayer my heart remains. 2. Thy blest cross hath pow'r to heal All the wounds of sin and strife. Lost in Thee, my heart doth feel Sudden warmth and nobler life, In my saddest, darkest grief, Let Thy sweetness bring relief. Thou who camest but to save, Thou who fearest not the grave! 3. Lord, in Thee I place my trust, Thou art my Defense and Tow'r; Death Thou treadest in the dust, O'er my soul he hath no pow'r. That I may have part in Thee, Help and save and comfort me; Give me of Thy grace and might, Resurrection, life and light. 4. Fount of good, within me dwell, For the peace Thy presence sheds Keeps us safe in conflict fell, Stills the pain from dying beds. Hide me safe within Thine arm, Where no foe can hurt or harm; Whoso, Lord, in Thee doth rest, He hath conquered, he is blest. 'Round Our Sparkling Christmas Tree

Author: Anonymous Meter: 7.7.7.7 D Appears in 3 hymnals First Line: ’Round our sparkling Christmas tree Refrain First Line: Glory be to God on high Lyrics: 1 ’Round our sparkling Christmas tree, Let our gladsome voices ring; Children of the Lord are we, In His praise our hymn we sing. Refrain: Glory be to God on high, Peace on earth, good will to men; Let us join the angel band, Shout aloud the glad refrain. 2 Thanks to Him whose tender love In the wintry midnight wild, Sent the Savior from above, Gentle Jesus, holy Child. [Refrain] 3 Heav’n with joy and music rang, Silvery stars broke silence then; Angel voices greeting sang— Peace on earth, good will to men. [Refrain] 4 Now once more the night comes round, Now the hour once more draws near; When that anthem’s holy sound, Falls on fancy’s listening ear. [Refrain] 5 On our hearts, oh let it thrill, Jesus there be born again; And with peace our bosoms fill, Peace on earth, good will to men. [Refrain] Used With Tune: LOUVRE Text Sources: Hymnal for Primary Classes by Edwin W. Rice (Philadelphia: American Sunday School Union, 1896)

See the Ransomed Millions Stand

Author: Josiah Conder Meter: 7.7.7.7 D Appears in 51 hymnals Lyrics: 1. See the ransomed millions stand, Palms of conquest in their hand; This before the throne their strain, Hell is vanquished, death is slain; Blessing, honor, glory, might, Are the Conqueror’s native right; Thrones and powers before Him fall, Lamb of God and Lord of all! 2. Hasten, Lord the promised hour; Come in glory and in power; Still Thy foes are unsubdued; Nature sighs to be renewed. Time has nearly reached its sum; All things, with Thy bride, say Come; Jesus, whom all worlds adore, Come, and reign forevermore.
