Psalm 126

Author: Isaac Watts Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 201 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 126 First Line: When God revealed his gracious name Lyrics: When God revealed his gracious name, And changed my mournful state, My rapture seemed a pleasing dream, The grace appeared so great. The world beheld the glorious change, And did thy hand confess; My tongue broke out in unknown strains, And sung surprising grace. "Great is the work," my neighbors cried, And owned the power divine; "Great is the work," my heart replied, "And be the glory thine." The Lord can clear the darkest skies, Can give us day for night; Make drops of sacred sorrow rise To rivers of delight. Let those that sow in sadness wait Till the fair harvest come, They shall confess their sheaves are great, And shout the blessings home. Though seed lie buried long in dust, It shan't deceive their hope; The precious grain can ne'er be lost, For grace insures the crop. Topics: Deliverance by prayer; National deliverance; Conversion and joy; Deliverance surprising; Joy of conversion; Melancholy removed

Author: Henry Francis Lyte, 1793-1847 Hymnal: Common Praise #555 (2000) Meter: 8.7.8.7.8.7 Scripture: Psalm 126:1 Lyrics: 1 Praise, my soul, the King of heaven, to his feet thy tribute bring; ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, who like me his praise should sing? Alleluia, alleluia, praise the everlasting King. 2 Praise him for his grace and favour to our fathers in distress; praise him still the same for ever, slow to chide, and swift to bless: Alleluia, alleluia, glorious in his faithfulness. 3 Father-like, he tends and spares us, well our feeble frame he knows; in his hands he gently bears us, rescues us from all our foes: Alleluia, alleluia, widely as his mercy flows. 4 Angels, help us to adore him; ye behold him face to face; sun and moon, bow down before him, dwellers all in time and space: Alleluia, alleluia, praise with us the God of grace.
