Adapter of "BERGGREN" in Christian Classics Ethereal Hymnary In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

1801 - 1880 Composer of "BERGGREEN (54332)" Andreas Peter Berggreen, born in Copenhagen, March 2, 1801. Instrumental and vocal composer; took up music as a profession after having first been compelled to study law, became organist at Trinity Church, Copenhagen, in 1838, professor of vocal music at the Metropolitan School in 1843, and inspector of the same branch in all public institutions. 1848 - 1930 Person Name: Valdimar Briem, 1848-1930 Author of "Lord, Let Thy Spirit" in The Cyber Hymnal Born: Feb­ru­a­ry 1, 1848, Grund, Ice­land. Died: May 3, 1930, Stó­ri-Nú­pur, Ice­land. Briem at­tend­ed the The­o­lo­gic­al Sem­in­ary in Reyk­ja­vik, was or­dained in 1873, and in 1880 be­came pas­tor of the Stó­ri-Nú­pur par­ish, where he served for three de­cades. In 1909, he be­came vice-bi­shop of Skál­holt. The 1886 Ice­lan­dic hym­nal has 102 orig­in­al hymns by Briem, and 39 of his trans­la­tions.
