146. Be Ye Ready

1 Soon the curtain will be lifted to unveil the golden shore,
Soon the earth with all her pomp will pass away,
Soon the trumpet of the angel will declare that time is o’er.
Are you ready for the dawning of that day?

Refrain:
He is coming, Christ is coming with His angels from the sky,
He is coming in His glory and His power;
He is coming, and the time of His approaching draweth nigh;
Be ye ready for that unexpected hour.

2 Should tonight the world be taken in the awful hand of God,
Should the heavens be rolled backward like a scroll,
Should the sun be turned to darkness and the moon be turned to blood,
Is the Saviour’s precious blood upon thy soul?

3 Tho’ He may delay His coming for another thousand years,
Yet tonight may see the coming of His pow’r;
Turn away from idle scoffers, do not heed their gives or sneers;
It is better to be ready for that hour. [Refrain]

4 You and I may not be living when that awful time shall come,
We may have to tread the valley one by one;
Let us go with joy to meet Him in His great eternal home;
Are you ready for the setting of life’s sun? [Refrain]
