God is Able

Author: M. W. Knapp Hymnal: Gold Tried in the Fire #97 (1904) First Line: "God is able" to deliver Refrain First Line: "God is able," God has promised Lyrics: 1 “God is able” to deliver, All our sins He will forgive, Blotting them all out forever, When repentant we believe. “God is able” to baptize us With the Holy Spirit now, Cleansing from inbred corruption, As we at His altar bow. Chorus: “God is able,” God has promised; On His word my soul relies; He delivers, Hallelujah! Fully saves and sanctifies. 2 “God is able,” He has promised All His grace to make abound, Giving strength for ev’ry conflict, All our tempters to confound. “God is able,” He has spoken, What He says, that He will do; For His word “cannot be broken;” He is faithful, He is true. [Chorus] 3 “God is able,” He can heal us, Bear our sicknesses away, Touch us with His balm of blessing, As we call on Him today. “God is able” out of trial Vict’ry to His own to bring; So that in the “fiery furnace” We can shout and laugh and sing. [Chorus] 4 “God is able,” Kept from falling, Pure and spotless we may be, And before His throne eternal Meet and spend eternity. “God is able,” Satan, hear it! In His might we shall prevail, On His promises relying, We can never, never fail. [Chorus] Languages: English Tune Title: ["God is able" to deliver]
